Miles materialized in the Engineering department and immediately spotted the burned heap that was T'Phal. She had yet to meet her; what a perfect opportunity.

She ran over and scanned her with her tricorder.

"What the hell did she do?!" She asked the surrounding officers what had happened.

"The warp core wasn't staying stable, and all of a sudden the part nacelle was venting plasma. T'Phal figured she could fix it. before the plasma reached her, but then there was a giant spurt of the stuff from the nacelle and she was drowned in it. She fixed the repairs, but suffered some pretty bad burns, as you can tell."

"Uhh, I would have to agree with you there," Miles said sarcastically. The tricorder had finished its analysis of the half-Vulcan. "Third-degree burns on her legs and lower body, thank God they're not lethal. Second degree on her arms and upper body and a few on her face along with some first degree."

And then a thought that should have stayed a thought came seeping out of her mouth, "Shit."

Miles tapped her badge. =/\= Two to beam to Sickbay, please. =/\=

=^= Sickbay =^=

T'Phal awoke to the sensation of being laid down, "funny, "she thought to herself, "the last thing I remember is fixing a nacelle and I would definitely not be lying down to achieve that".

She attempted to sit up and gasped as the burns reminded her of the nacelle repairs.

Miles had been working on some paperwork, logging in T'Phal's procedure and care. Thankfully everything went well; she never worked on a patient so badly burned. She walked over to the biobed, where T'Phal winced in pain as she laid back down.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" She laughed at the failed attempt.

"So is the ship OK? The repairs I did? Did they hold out?"

"Yeah Hern said everything was good. You're a true hero." She started looking back at her notes and began to inform the officer of what had happened. "So, you were pretty friggin' burned on your legs, but fortunately nothing fatal. You're just gonna be stuck here for a good while. I'll change the bandages in an hour or so. But you gotta keep hydrated so the skin doesn't get all screwed up. If you need anything, just let me know." She placed down the padd next to the bed and stuck her hand out. "I'm Lt. Parker, the new CMO. But you can call me Miles. I just joined yesterday. What a way to meet, huh?"

T'Phal had to smile, she winced as another wave of pain hit her, "I can think of better ways, Dr." She paused, "Sorry, Miles..." she stretched out her hand in welcome, "thank you for all you've done. I think I may well stay here a little longer, you've done a good job fixing me up. I'll leave when my legs advise me it's a good idea to. I've found it's always a good idea to take notice of that, otherwise you meet the floor a lot more than you'd like to"

"Believe me, I know leg injuries. Skateboarding is a huge passion of mine, so I've had me a few hospital visits in my life. Need any pain meds to take care of those pain waves?"

T'Phal nodded, "that would be a great help, thank you Miles. I can rest easy knowing my crew will cope with whatever fate throws at them."

She smiled and laid back, waiting for the hypo.

Miles grabbed the hypo and inserted the liquid into her shoulder. "Well, you're quite the officer, risking your life for the ship. How long have you been working here?"

"Not long, I was engaged in research for a long time, but the call of the stars hollered my way and I never did develop deafness in that department."

"I know how you feel. My dad actually got me to sign up for the Academy. He said I was 'too smart for Earth.'" She smiled at her father's memory. She missed him terribly. "Well, it's safe to say you'll be doing fine in a week or so. Just don't jump into any more pools of plasma anytime soon."

"I'm about to go take care of some borg so if you need anything, give me a holler."
